Newsmaytech AC6-M, review: a micro PC with good performance

Newsmaytech AC6-M It is a new and tiny micro PC of which today we present its analysis or review, a computer that allows us to use it on desktop and multimedia with minimal noise.

This small micro PC integrates the processor Intel Celeron J4125 that has a GPU Intel UHD Graphics 600, with 8 GB DDR4 RAM, disk drive M.2 SATA installed and several connection ports despite its small box. The installed operating system is Windows 10 Pro And despite its size, the hardware it includes allows us to use it for office automation, multimedia, browsing or using desktop apps. Let’s see how this device behaves in our review and how it defends itself against the competition.

  • Newsmaytech AC6-M is only available to wholesalers for now at Newsmaytech.
  • It can personalize the box with the brand’s logo in the upper area.

The new Newsmaytech AC6-M It comes in a simple but well protected cardboard box. Inside we find the small computer protected between foams, HDMI cable and 12V 2A charger (24 W).

The Newsmaytech AC6-M It surprises us above all because of its small size where we observe a good number of perforations for ventilation. On the front we have a status led and the power button, on one side we have the audio jack, microSD and Kensington lock. In the rear area we find two USB 3.0 ports, HDMI 1.4, Gigabit Ethernet and for the power supply we have a USB-C port.

Inside this micro PC we find the adapter Wifi ac + BT 5.0 (RTL 8821CE) with two internal antennas, we also have a disk installed M.2 2242 SATA 128GB and RAM is integrated into the motherboard.

  • Storage: 64GB/128GB/256 GB 1x M.2 2242 SATA / 1x microSD 512GB max.
  • Red: Wifi ac + BT 5.0 (RTL 8821CE) / 1x Ethernet Gigabit (Intel l225-LM).

In the upper area we have a very quiet fan and the noise it generates is barely audible in an environment with some ambient noise. The fan arrangement, the heatsink fin system and the arrangement of the CPU on top surrounded by vents make this little computer have no noticeable thermal problems.

Environment and user experience

We start the micro PC Newsmaytech AC6-M pressing the front power button and as the specifications indicate we have Windows 10 Pro 64bit activated and with its drivers installed correctly. The system moves fluidly thanks to 8 GB of RAM and it is possible to load a good number of navigation tabs without loss of performance. A fully valid computer for office automation, multimedia and that we can easily expand.

  • Installed system version: Windows 10 Pro 64bit.

The system BIOS has multiple options, we recommend DO NOT TOUCH so as not to activate any function that may hang the system. If we have problems we can use the BIOS reset button that we have on the front.

  • Medium: Newsmaytech has its own website and contact email to send our inquiries.
  • BIOS: Access by pressing ESC / BIOS AMI key in text / WOL / PXE / Auto Power ON mode.
  • Other systems: Compatible with Ubuntu / SI compatible LibreELEC for PC.

Network, storage, RAM and ports

In the network connectivity section, the micro PC Newsmaytech AC6-M you have a wireless adapter Wifi aC + BT 5.0 (RTL 8821CE) and a port Ethernet Gigabit (Intel l225-LM). We passed speed tests of the storage of the disco M.2 SATA installed by default and we observe that it behaves normally. We also tested the 8 GB de RAM DDR4 2400 MHz which comes standard in configuration Single Channel.

Processor, performance and thermals

On the micro PC Newsmaytech AC6-M we have a processor installed Intel Celeron J4125 made in 14nm with four cores that moves between 2.0 and 2.7 GHz and in the graphic section we have a GPU Intel UHD Graphics 600 up to 750 MHz with 12 EU. This chip has a staggered consumption of 10 W TDP and the results are correct within this range, as we see for its price it does not compete with more expensive processors Intel Core or AMD Ryzen. A micro PC that works well for browsing, multimedia playback with KODI, use for office automation and even with simple-level editing applications.

  • If you want to know some of the compared models You can read their detailed reviews in this link.

As we see in the performance tests of the Newsmaytech AC6-M It is quite equal in computing power with respect to other chips of a similar range, we cannot expect more from a basic Celeron. The installed GPU UHD Graphics 600 it does not get to get the performance of the AMD Vega and we have to limit ourselves to light games.

This compact surprises us with a good thermal performance the system maintains controlled temperatures with its fan at fixed RPM and it emits very little noise. The 14 nm They are efficient, but they are already overtaken today by Intel’s 10nm. If we start playing demanding titles, we do have an increase in temperature.

  • Consumption: Off 0.9W / Sleep 3W / Basic use 9W / Maximum 18W.
  • Thermal: Standby 39ºC / Basic use 45ºC / Maximum 70ºC / CPU 2.7 GHz max. / Yield up to 100%.
  • Performance in games: LoL 74ºC / CPU 2.7 GHz on average.
  • Noise: 40dBA Max / Fixed RPM / NO Semi-passive.
  • Fans: CANNOT be adjusted in BIOS.

We performed our performance tests on games in the Newsmaytech AC6-M we have some results are in the line of this type of product, the GPU Intel UHD Graphics 600 it is only suitable for simple games and in demanding games the system drags a lot. As to emulators at most we stick to a few simple titles from GC and the like.

It is possible to play titles like LoL, but in more demanding games like Provided with graphic settings in performance mode it is not playable because it does not reach 30fps in decent quality. If we are especially interested in the Gaming section, it is better to go for a micro PC with a dedicated GPU, we will have a much more fluid experience.

Playback test

Regarding the video playback capacity, the micro PC Newsmaytech AC6-M has an integrated GPU Intel UHD Graphics 600 which has a VPU with hardware support for codecs HEVC Y VP9 and we do not support modern AV1 video codec. In this processor it has support for 10bit color, but does not have HDR support native by default and reduces colors to SD level. This micro PC is perfectly valid as a multimedia system to use KODI, IPTV or to use it with PLEX.
